Representative Project Experience- Structural

Hyatt Expansion, San Diego, California:

Structural Engineering Design Services for the 34-story Hyatt Hotel, San Diego consisting of approximately 530,000 square feet in additional size and 446 feet in height. The complex includes a 30,000 square foot ballroom, supporting a terrace and pool; a 34,000 square foot galleria below the ballroom and 100,000 square feet of meeting rooms and miscellaneous support areas. The structural system consists of concrete shear walls around the elevator core, complimented with a 6-story bracing system and special moment frame.

Marriott Courtyard Hotel, San Diego, California:

Structural Engineering Final Design Services for the seismic upgrade of the 13-story steel frame Marriott Hotel with a cast-in-place, pan-joist floor system. Services also included a general upgrade of the existing lateral system to meet the minimum required lateral force, based on the state historical code. Lateral reinforcement of the cupola frame; the addition of a full height north exist stair and miscellaneous incidental structural improvements including a new entry canopy and the infill of existing floor openings and creation of new localized floor openings. This project received Recognition of Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Historic Preservation from the California Preservation Foundation Design Awards 2000.

Inmate Reception Center, San Diego, California:

Structural Engineering Design services for the design of the ten-story (equivalent to a seventeen-story) cast-in-place concrete Inmate Reception Center consisting of approximately 340,000 square feet with an access pedestrian bridge from the existing inmate facility across the street.

Carrillo Hotel, Santa Barbara, California:

Structural Engineering Design Services for a 7-story post-tension Carrillo Hotel complex which includes approximately 104,000 SF on a mat foundation system with two levels of parking underground. The underground parking levels are connected to an existing parking structure with a new tunnel.


San Diego Chargers Training Facility, San Diego, California:

Structural Engineering Design Services for the two-story, multi-use, steel frame San Diego Charges Training Facility consisting of approximately 71,000 square feet.

Grand Central Arts Center Mixed-Use Facility, Santa Ana, California:

Structural Engineering design services for the seismic retrofit of the 2-story under-reinforced concrete and masonry Grand Central Arts mixed-use facility with a partial basement.

Village Walk Housing, Downtown San Diego, California:

Structural Engineering Design services for Village Walk Housing's 77 condominium units, with below-grade parking.

UCSD Social Sciences Building, San Diego, California:

Structural Engineering design services for the UCSD five-story steel frame graduate studies building. The project contains over 60,000 square feet utilizing composite steel and concrete construction over a caisson foundation system.

Cesar Chavez Elementary School, San Diego, California:

Structural Engineering design services for Cesar Chavez Elementary School consisting of a steel, masonry and wood framed school complex with 18 classrooms comprising two single-story buildings and one, two-story building with a net building area of approximately 48,000 square feet.

Irvine Fire Station No. 6, Irvine, California:

Structural Engineering Design Services for a single-story wood framed Fire Station with three apparatus bays of approximately 9,000 SF.
